Search engines cannot read an image like they do content on your page so you have to tell the search engines what the image is. By doing this you have the opportunity to add more content to your blog. If you are not familiar with .html programming don’t worry, there is a WordPress plugin that will do the work for you. (Aren’t WordPress plugins wonderful!)
When adding photos to your blog you should get into the practice of doing a few things:
- Install SEO Friendly Images (this plugins uses the name of the photo as an automatic ALT attribute)
- Name your photos something descriptive – change from disk001.jpg to 1234 Main Street Las Vegas NV Home for Sale.jpg
- When inserting the photo into your blog double check the description before posting
